Black History Month Community Showcase on February 12

The Black History Month Community Showcase: #BlackLivesMatter takes place on Friday, February 12 at 7:00pm at the Harrison Auditorium (Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, 3260 South St). This showcase will feature performances by artists who will share expressions of black joy, black love, black suffering, and hope in the midst of chaotic times.

“As of late, the relentless violence against communities of color has been difficult to bear, thus leading us to conceive the theme of this showcase which pays tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement. Join us on February 12th as we celebrate life through art, and honor ourselves and members of our community who are involved in social justice work that positively impacts the lives of people of color. Our wish is to create an affirming space and platform where our community can join forces, lift our voices, and celebrate life, despite it all.”

Featuring performances by: Jasmine Mans, Laurin Talese, The Clutch Collective, Babel Poetry, The Hood Lockers, The Excelano Project, Melanie R. Hill, Gabriel Ramirez, I Am Phresh Crew, Drexel African Dance, Margel the Sophant, Lenora Magee Howard, Just Sole, and more.

Free and open to the public with suggested donation. Registration is required.
