Asian Arts Initiative advances racial equity and understanding, activating artists, youth, and their communities through creative practice and dialogue grounded in the diverse Asian American experience. The Shared Spaces Program (å ±äº«ç©ºé´) will provide low- or no- cost access to residency, rehearsal, or meeting space for neighborhood based cultural groups, ensuring that these groups will continue to have a presence in the fast developing Chinatown & Callowhill/Chinatown North neighborhoods.

The Shared Spaces Neighborhood Outreach Associate will conduct targeted outreach, both in English and Chinese, to cultural groups that live or work in the Callowhill/Chinatown North or Chinatown neighborhoods to participate in the Shared Spaces program. The Outreach Associate will organize and operate orientations as deemed necessary for users of the program, and maintain a help desk for new and active users. The Outreach Associate will liaise with Asian Arts Initiative to ensure the continued success of the service. The Outreach Associate will also work with the Shared Spaces Facilities Coordinator to ensure that Shared Spaces program users have access to buildings for their rentals.

Primary Responsibilities:

OUTREACH

- Recruit Chinese-speaking and other cultural groups for participation
- Recruit building owners in Chinatown & Chinatown North/Callowhill for participation
- Respond to participant inquiries and questions
- Lead the distribution and administration of questionnaires for participants
- Organize and lead orientations for program users
- Establish & manage AAI WeChat account for promotion

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

- Coordinate and schedule facility usage, including room reservations, and guest services.
- Develop protocols for and manage scheduling requests and notifications, including maintenance of the program’s Google Calendar
- Ensure coordination between all participating building owners, program users, and program managers
- Assist the Shared Spaces Facilities Coordinator to ensure maintenance of facilities of all participating partners
- Offer and manage public-serving translation service for English to Chinese materials for participating cultural spaces. Coordinate translation services for other dialects and languages
- Manage program documentation
- Contribute to ongoing evaluation of program guidelines and delivery to ensure equitable delivery of program services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

- Must be fluent speaker and writer in Chinese and English
- Good communication skills
- Ability to represent Asian Arts Initiative while in conversation with many neighborhood partners

Hours: 30 Hours/week, with many evenings/weekends as the program requires. This is a part-time, contracted position that does not receive benefits.
Compensation: $20/hour
